Physical Fitness Components

  1. Flexibility: range of motion (via stretching, sit and reach)

  2. Muscular Endurance: the ability to exert a force over a period of time. (push up test)

  3. Muscular Strength: the ability to exert a force one time. (vertical)

  4. Cardiovascular Endurance: ability to transport oxygenated blood to and from all parts of the body. (1 mile run)

  5. Body Composition: % of bodyfat or ratio of fat to muscle, bone, etc. (skin caliper)

Skill Components

  1. Balance: center of gravity (Balance Beam)

  2. Coordination: integration of eye to body parts (hitting)

  3. Speed: ability to cover short/straight distances. (ex: 100m dash)

  4. Agility: the ability to change directions. (shuttle run)

  5. Reaction Time: Time it takes to react to a stimuli. (goalie)

  6. Power: Strength x speed. (Shot put)
