Cuando se acerca un cuerpo cargado a otro cuerpo electricamente neutro (sin llegar a tocarse), los electrones se mueven en el interior del cuerpo neutro sin llegar a saltar al otro, de tal manera que estos electrones se acercan a otro cuerpo si este tiene carga positiva y se alejan si tiene carga negativa, comprobándose el principio de que: cargas iguales se atraen y cargas opuestas se repelen.
