Between the pater you want to curve, mark the back of the timber beam for every 10mm
Cut 90% deep so theres only a small part left still attached between each gap
Can apply dry wall to it and you have a vertically curved wall




STEAM BENDING
Another method to bend wood using steam to moisturize the wood and make the wood pliable like in a rubber state to bend around a mold. Then let it cool to harden again.
How does it work?
Lignin Plasticization: Wood is held together by a natural polymer called lignin, which acts like glue.
The Process: Exposing wood to hot, non-pressurized steam softens the lignin. This allows the wood fibers to slip and compress without breaking.
Cooling: Once bent, the wood cools, the lignin hardens again, and the piece holds its new shape.
Step-by-Step
Prepare the Box: Heat your steam generator until it produces a steady, continuous flow of steam. Allow the chamber to preheat for about 30 minutes before putting your wood inside
Steam the Wood: A general rule of thumb is to steam the wood for one hour per inch of thickness
Bend Quickly: Once the time is up, carefully remove the wood (use heat-resistant gloves!) and quickly pull it around your bending form or jig. You generally have about one to two minutes before the wood cools and loses its pliability.
Use a Strap: For tight bends, apply a metal tension strap to the outside of the curve. This supports the fibers and prevents the wood from splintering or "blowing out"
Clamp & Cure: Clamp the wood securely against your form and leave it to cool and dry completely, typically overnight.
