Interview challenge
1.
What are your best personality traits and how will they be useful for this job/course?
I would say my best personality traits are being rational and calm under pressure. When working in computer science or AI engineering, you often face complex problems and unexpected challenges. Being able to stay calm helps me think clearly and find logical solutions without getting overwhelmed.
2.
Which of your skills are you proud of and how will they be useful for this job/course?
I’m proud of my analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. These are essential in AI and computer science because the work often involves debugging, designing algorithms, and improving systems. I enjoy breaking down complex problems and finding efficient ways to solve them.
3.
Tell me something about a personality trait that you can improve on? How can this affect you in your job/course?
I’m naturally introverted and sometimes shy, especially in new environments or when speaking in public. This can make it harder to communicate ideas or ask for help. I’m working on becoming more confident in group settings because communication is key in collaborative projects in AI and tech.
4.
Tell me something about a skill that you can improve on? How can this affect you in your job/course?
One skill I’m working to improve is my English, especially speaking fluently. In the tech world, a lot of communication, documentation, and collaboration happens in English. Improving it will help me share my ideas more clearly and understand others better.
5.
What motivates you about this job/course? Which specific aspects do you look forward to? Which skills will be crucial?
I’m motivated by the opportunity to create real-world impact with AI—solving problems and building smart systems. I look forward to learning how machines can think, and applying that knowledge to develop helpful technologies. Key skills I’ll need include coding, critical thinking, and communication.
6.
Tell me about a time when you failed. How did you deal with it? What skills did you apply to work towards a solution?
I once came third place in a competition where I really hoped to win. At first, I was disappointed, but I learned that I needed to work even harder. It also helped me improve my collaboration skills because it was a team event, and I really enjoyed that aspect of it.
7.
What do you consider to be your biggest achievement so far in your life? Which skills did you use to achieve success?
My biggest achievement so far is winning first prize in a piano competition, which gave me the chance to perform with an orchestra. It took a lot of time management to balance practice and school, as well as independence and confidence to perform in front of a crowd.
8.
Study the BSB Skills Framework. Out of these skills, select two that are crucial in the role/course you are applying for. Why those two? How well do you master them? What can you improve?
Two important skills are problem solving and teamwork. Problem solving is central to AI because you’re always working on designing solutions. Collaboration is important because most tech projects are done in teams. I’m confident in my problem-solving ability, but I want to keep improving my teamwork by speaking up more and sharing ideas more confidently.
