Functions of cerebral cortex

Cerebral cortex - wrinlkly = greater surface area, more space for neurons

frontal: motor cortex = body movements, prefrontal cortex = executive functions, directs other areas of brain. Brocas area = speech production

parietal: somatosensory cortex = feeling sensations ex touch, pain, pressure, etc. spatial processing and manipulation/orientation.

occipital: processes visual information, striate cortex

temporal: auditory processing. wernickes area = speech comprehension
