Calculating the mode

Find the number that occurs the most often. There may be no mode or there could be more than one mode.

Stem and leaf Them stem is the left hand colum which contains the tens hundreds thousands digits.

The leaves are the lists in the right hand colum, showing all the ones digits .

Order the stems from least to greatest

42,67,73,78,82,84,86,91,94,99,105

Calculating the MEAN:

To find the mean there are 2 steps.

1)add up all the numbers

2)divide by the numbers of data values.

Example:Using our students scores: 5,8,3,29,7,5,4

1)5+8+3+5+2+9+7+5+4=48

2)48÷9=33

So the average score is 5.33

FINDING THE MEDIAN.

1)Put the numbers In order from least to greatest.

2)Find the exact middle number.

However

-If there is an odd number of values in the set, then the median is the middle value.

-If there is an even number of values in the set then the median is the average of the two middle values.

Example:find the median of 23,27,16,31

1)Put the numbers in order:16,23,27,31

(23+27)=50÷25

Answer=25
