My definition of global challenge - A global challenge is an issue, problem or event that impacts people on a widespread scale due to the inherit connectedness of countries or nations

Other definitions/ examples of what a global challenged is 🌐

  • Child labour, spread a problem across groups/ cultures

  • Child labour due to interconnectedness e.g. shipping from Shein, Nike or fast fashion, climate change, rubbish

  • EU Commission - we live in a world that is highly connected and interdependent

  • UN - poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice 🌐

Reasons why globalisation hasn’t created complex crisis 🌍

  • Define complex crisis - climate change, war ( fight for war fight for resources)

  • Child labour , de-industrialisation created these ‘ complex crisis’ 🧑‍🧒

  • Interconnectedness 📞

  • Decrease conflict, WW1/2 1940S/1918s 📉

  • Increase communication less conflict, just more aware of conflicts

  • Fast fashion GDP China increase GDP per capita 💰

  • ‘Created’ the inherit pre-existing, moved into a different form

  • Awareness increase not the amount of complex crisis, not created decrease severity, globalisation awareness academics due to covid to collaborate to resolve issues

  • Concentrated not created, effected how they’re formed

  • Deforestation already exited e.g. easter island more notable because efforts to sort is from set places or area , more exacerbated 🌲

  • Globalisation prevented more conflicts than started UN security council as well as NATO, Cuban missile crisis end in nukes

  • Globalisation cannot create complex crisis, when did it start, connected throughout the globe 🏁

Arguments for globalisation creating complex crisis in the world

  • 2008 financial crisis (wouldn’t have an economy rich enough to fail ) ( created a wealth) 💲

  • Putting tariffs of Russia wheat demands due Ukraine wheat 🇷🇺🇺🇦

  • More producing our own resources 🌾

  • Intensify made it much more easier, global interactions not globalised, every industry, product or good moved

  • Sustain that country and that country alone globalisation no limit 🗾

  • Streamline production, destruction of the planet specialise on one thing on quicker higher scale
