Depth Cues

  • Monocular Vs Binocular

  • Pictorial Vs Non-Pictorial

  • Visual Vs Oculomotor

  • Ordinal Vs Metric


BINOCULAR

  • Most animals have 2 eyes

  • some are placed laterally: an eye on each side of the head (duck, rabbits)

  • others are frontal (cats, owls)


VERGENCE

  • each eye has to be pointing in the correct direction

  • for long dist - the angle will be small for short dist - the angle will be larger
