Tectonic Plates

Tectonic Activity

  • Landscapes are formed and transformed through processes such as geomorphic, hydrological, atmospheric, biotic and human processes.

Tectonic Plates

  • Magma underneath the plates cause them to move.

  • Movement of tectonic plates

    • Converging- tectonic plates are being pushed into one another, creating mountain ranges.

    • Diverging- tectonic plates that are being pulled apart from one another, creating rifts, allowing magma to ooze to the surface and create new land.

    • Transform Boundary- tectonic plates that are sliding past each other horizontally, causing earthquakes.
