Bone Names and Functions

  • Clavicle: Collarbone.

  • Scapula: Shoulder blade.

  • Humerus: Arm bone.

  • Radius: Lateral bone in forearm.

  • Ulna: Medial bone in forearm.

Wrist and Hand Bones

  • Carpal Bones: Wrist bones (not individually needed for lab, but important for lectures).

    • Scaphoid, Lunate, Triquetrum, Pisiform: First row of carpal bones.

    • Trapezium, Trapezoid, Capitate, Hamate: Second row of carpal bones.

  • Metacarpals: Palm bones.

  • Phalanges: Finger bones.

    • Thumb has 2 (proximal, distal); other fingers have 3 (proximal, middle, distal).

Pelvis Anatomy

  • Ilium: Superior bone of pelvis.

  • Pubic Bone: Anterior bone.

  • Ischium: Posterior bone.

Leg Bones

  • Tibia: Shinbone.

  • Patella: Kneecap.

  • Fibula: Lateral bone in the lower leg.

Ankle Structure

  • Medial and Lateral Malleoli: Bumps on the ankle.

  • Talus: Bone that contacts the ankle.

  • Navicular: Anterior to talus.

  • Cuneiform Bones: Three for big toe, three for other toes.

  • Cuboid: Side bone of the foot.

  • Calcaneus: Heel bone.

  • Ischium: Posterior bone.

The cuboid bone was mentioned in a previous version of the notes under the "Ankle Structure" section, where it was described as the "Side bone of the foot."
