Year 13 extra curriculars
Year 13 (A-Level Year 2) – Perfecting Your Application & Interview Prep
1. Academic Focus:
Final A-levels: By Year 13, your grades in Philosophy, Psychology, Government and Politics, Classical Civilization, and Geography will be critical for university applications.
Refine your personal statement to highlight all the academic and extracurricular skills you've developed over the past two years.
2. In-School Extracurricular Activities:
Debating / MUN:
Take on a final leadership role in both clubs, organizing your school’s debate week or MUN conference.
Action Step: Offer to coach or mentor younger students in Debating Society or MUN, showing that you can pass on knowledge and lead teams effectively.
Interview & Application Prep:
For Oxbridge or top Russell Group universities, start preparing for interviews. Practice critical thinking, problem-solving, and debating skills.
Action Step: Do mock interviews with teachers or seek professional prep services if applying to Oxbridge.
3. Outside of School Extracurriculars:
Summer Internships:
Look for longer-term internships (if possible) in your field. These could be in consulting firms (e.g., McKinsey Insight Programme), law firms, or think tanks.
Action Step: Try securing an internship where you can work full-time for at least a few weeks to get hands-on experience.
Prepare Your Portfolio:
Create an online CV/portfolio that includes all your essays, debates, MUN positions, and volunteering.
Action Step: Use platforms like LinkedIn to document your journey.
