Solar Diagram Requirements

• Required Elements:

  1. Core:

  • Center of the sun, where nuclear fusion occurs.

  1. Radiation Zone:

  • Surrounds the core; energy is transported outward by radiation.

  1. Convection Zone:

  • Outer layer of the sun's interior where energy is transferred through convection.

  1. Photosphere:

  • Visible surface of the sun; where sunlight is emitted.

  1. Chromosphere:

  • Layer above the photosphere; seen during solar eclipses as a red halo.

  1. Transition Zone:

  • Region between the chromosphere and corona, where temperature rises significantly.

  1. Corona:

  • Outermost layer of the sun's atmosphere, visible during solar eclipses.

  1. Solar Wind:

  • Stream of charged particles released from the corona.

  1. Prominence:

  • Large, bright features extending outward from the sun's surface, often in loops.

  1. Solar Flare:

     • Sudden, intense bursts of radiation from the sun's surface.

  2. Sunspots:

     • Dark spots on the sun's surface caused by magnetic activity.
