Football 

  1. A football field is 100 yards long from goal line to goal line and 120 yards long including the end zones.
  2. The end zones are the areas at either end of the field where a team tries to score in.
  3. There are 11 players on the field for each team at one time.
  4. A team gets 4 plays to try to gain 10 yards.
  5. If a team gains 10 yards within those 4 plays, the team earns a first down and 4 new plays.
  6. The line of scrimmage is the imaginary line where the football is placed after each play and it separates the offense from the defense.
  7. If a player steps on the sideline in football the player is considered out of bounds.
  8. The quarterback is called the “field general” and he/she calls the plays, throws the ball, and says “hike” to put the ball in play.
  9. The wide receivers are the players on offense who run out and catch the ball.
    1. The running backs are the players on offense who try to advance the ball by running with it until they get tackled.
    2. The football may only be passed forward, over the line of scrimmage one time.
    3. The ball may be lateraled or tossed backwards as many times as a team wants
    4. When a defensive player tackles the player with the ball, the ball is placed where the tackle took place.
    5. In Ultimate football the ball can be passed forward as many times as needed to get across the goal line.
    6. In regular football the ball may only be passed forward over the line of scrimmage one time.
    7. The football may be lateraled or thrown backwards at any time, as many times as needed.
    8. When throwing a football you should step with the opposite foot of the arm you throw with.
