League of Nations: Established after World War I.

UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund)
Formed: 1946.
Function: Provides humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.
UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees)
Formed: 1950.
Function: Protects and supports refugees and displaced people.
UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)
Formed: 1945.
Function: Promotes education, science, culture, and communication.
WHO (World Health Organization)
Formed: 1948.
Function: Directs and coordinates international health efforts.
IMF (International Monetary Fund)
Conceived: 1944, Came into existence: 1945
Function: Works to stabilize international exchange rates and financial systems.
