    • Unpacking data so it can be understood at the destination]


  • Application layer - layer 7 os the model

    • invovles the communication between end use applications and the ntwork

    • this will involve a user interface of some kind, as well as various protocols that allow the application to communicateo ver the netwrok

  • Presnetation layer - lyaer 6

  • Session - Layer 5

    • manages the session between two devices

    • for two or more apps to communicate, a session must be established

  • TCP - reliable we ll ordered transmimssion with error checking.

    • for example we would rather erecieve and email more slowly than recieve an email withits conentes corrupted
