Possessive Nouns

  • Add -s to noun

Nouns: Definite Singular

  • To make the definite form of a noun, take en or ett and put them on to the end of the word

  • En mobil —> mobile

  • *There are two t’s when using the word ett but only one t in the end, e.g. ett hus —> huset

  • *When the noun belongs to the subject, the definite form is often used, e.g. Var är mobilen? —> Where is my phone?

Den/ Det

  • It = Den/ Det

  • When using it to refer back to an already mentioned noun, you would use den or det

  • You can use det in a much wider sense without referring to a specific noun, e.g. det är bra

  • Det är + any adjective

  • You can use vad + adjective to mean “that is…”
