White Southerners had a hard time accepting that
Buses were still segregated, he was still sitting in the back
Stood up to approach the bus driver, asking to stop at a rest area
Stopped anyways, but complained to police about SGT Isaac Wood
SGT was beaten by police, especially around his face and a police billie club
Permanently lost his vision in both eyes from the incident
