This was the main rule of the Feudal System: vassals (knights) owed loyalty to their lords, and would receive payment or land in exchange for their military service in defending the lord’s kingdom.

- Heraldry was the medieval custom of designing Coats of Arms for knights and royal families.
- A medieval sport for knights was called jousting. A knights skill with a horse during battle was called chevallery.
- Notre Dame was the most famous medieval cathedral in Europe. It was designed in the Gothic style of cathedrals. It was famous for its gargoyles, which were stone carvings designed to protect the cathedral against evil spirits.
- The Medieval Age ended with the Black Plague, a disease that killed off almost half the population of Europe.
