The Big6 Skills Model of Information Problem-Solving

  • developed by Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz, is applicable whenever people need and use information

  • This systematically integrates information search and uses skills and technology tools to find, apply, and evaluate information for specific needs and tasks. 

  • Define task 

    1. Define the problem (Nagchecheat ba si Kaye)

    2. Identify the information needed (Pictures, Videos, Evidences) 

  • Identify information seeking strategies

    1. Determine all possible sources 

      1. Playing ground: Library 

      2. Where can they possibly do PDA?

    2. Select the best source 

      1. 1st floor - kasi hindi siya naniniwala na may iba pang floor 

        1. Back part of the lib (Thomasian Readers Cafe)

    3. Locate and access

      1. Locate source

      2. Find information within the sources (Nakakandong si Kaye sa guy friend ng boyfriend niya na basketball player)

    4. Use Information

      1. Engage (read, view, hear, touch, etc)

      2. Extract relevant information (Took pictures and videos)

    5. Synthesize

      1. Organize information from multiple sources (Choose the information that would solve the problems)

      2. Present information (not needed all the time) 

    6. Evaluate

      1. Judge the result for effectiveness

      2. Judge the process for efficiency

    7. Ethical
