Killing Excuses Daily devotional

Excuses feel safe because they protect our pride. They let us dodge the discomfort

Every excuse is a wall that keeps you from growing into the person God designed you to be.

You can’t lead your family, your business, or your own life while blaming someone else. God cannot bless someone who hides behind half truths.

Your excuses has become the enemy of your growth.

Action steps

  1. Write down two or three excuses that have been holding you back.

  2. Pray through each one, confessing it as a lie and asking God for the courage to take ownership.

  3. Replace every excuse with a truth based declaration. Example: “ I don’t have time” > “ I will prioritize what God days matters most.”

Excuses

Not being a more active christian at church because of anxiety

Not applying to jobs because I’m not ready

1st excuse: I can be an active christian at church. I’ve done it before, I can do it again.

2nd excuse: You will never be fully ready for anything. Just take that chance and growth will happen.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for showing me this lesson today. Excuses will set you back so far in life with anything. I will learn to face my fears and grow. Thank you so much for your constant grace and mercy. You are so awesome lord. You are here with me so everything will be alright. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Day 2

S

We often hear God’s promptings and instinctively reach for our excuses.

God isn’t waiting for you to become impressive he’s waiting for you to become available.

The posture God blesses… imperfect but willing. God uses those who show up with a “yes” even when they feel unqualified.

Many of us want clarity before commitment, but faith works the other way around. You move first, and the clarity comes later.

Imagine how many devine oppurtunities are lost each day to hesitation.

O

Be ready for God’s call no matter the condition. Doing things unprepared causes GROWTH. Everything will be alright with God BY MY SIDE.

A

Show up to church ON TIME. Be ready for God’s call for whatever he needs me to do. Being comfortable is stagnation, you will not grow in christ.

P

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for showing me another great lesson. In order for me to grow from this addiction I need to be uncomfortable with you. I need more time with you. I need to SACRIFICE for you. Please show me signs through this journey of getting closer to you lord. Lord, use me today. I am here. I need to jump in the fire. Thank you for all your blessings. In Jesus name. Amen.

Action steps:

  1. Pray a bold prayer of surrender: “Lord, here I am use me today.”

  2. Identify one area where you’ve been saying “send someone else” and take a step of obedience instead.

  3. Write down how you will make yourself more available to God’s call this week.

Reflection questions:

Am I more likely to say “send me” or “send someone else”?

What opportunity might I be missing because I’m waiting to feel ready?
