Exam Preparation and Strategy Notes

General Exam-Taking Strategies
  • Approach to Multiple Choice Questions:
    • Independent Answering (Primary Method): Read the question thoroughly and attempt to formulate the answer in your mind before looking at the provided choices. Once you have a potential answer, then scan the choices to find the one that best matches your thought.
    • Process of Elimination (Alternative Method): If the answer isn't immediately clear, systematically eliminate choices that are definitively incorrect or highly improbable. This narrows down the options, leaving fewer choices from which to select the best fit.
Exam Format and Logistics
  • Question Arrangement: Questions on the exam will be presented in a random order.
  • Content Connection: All questions are directly linked to the Course Learning Objectives (CLOs), which can be found in the review materials.
  • Required Materials: Students must remember to bring a Scantron for the multiple-choice section.
  • Allowed Writing Surfaces: No separate sheet of paper is required or should be used. All necessary writing, including for open-ended questions, should be done directly on the exam paper itself.
  • Question Types: The exam will include both multiple-choice and open-ended questions.
  • Emphasis on Open-Ended Questions: Open-ended questions will particularly focus on topics that have been emphasized throughout the course.
