Exam Preparation and Strategy Notes
General Exam-Taking Strategies
- Approach to Multiple Choice Questions:
- Independent Answering (Primary Method): Read the question thoroughly and attempt to formulate the answer in your mind before looking at the provided choices. Once you have a potential answer, then scan the choices to find the one that best matches your thought.
- Process of Elimination (Alternative Method): If the answer isn't immediately clear, systematically eliminate choices that are definitively incorrect or highly improbable. This narrows down the options, leaving fewer choices from which to select the best fit.
- Question Arrangement: Questions on the exam will be presented in a random order.
- Content Connection: All questions are directly linked to the Course Learning Objectives (CLOs), which can be found in the review materials.
- Required Materials: Students must remember to bring a Scantron for the multiple-choice section.
- Allowed Writing Surfaces: No separate sheet of paper is required or should be used. All necessary writing, including for open-ended questions, should be done directly on the exam paper itself.
- Question Types: The exam will include both multiple-choice and open-ended questions.
- Emphasis on Open-Ended Questions: Open-ended questions will particularly focus on topics that have been emphasized throughout the course.
