Muhammad

Muhammad is the last and greatest of the prophets, and he received the final revelation of the Quran.

¨Muhammad is not the father of any one of you men; he is God´s messenger and the seal of the prophets; God knows everything.¨ Quran 33:40

• Muhammad was born in 570AD in Mecca. He was an orphan from an early age who worked as a shepherd and then a Merchant.

• 610AD he went to a cave on Mount Hira to get away from the polytheistic worshipping of false idols around the Kaba.

• Angel Jibril appeared and he was given the first message of God, known as the Night of Power.

• Muhammad spent the remainder of his life receiving messages from Jibril and preaching the way of God; he told people to give up cheating, drinking and idol worship.

• This was unpopular and led to him and his followers being chased outside of Mecca

• In 621AD, Muhammad was taken to Jerusalem via a winged horse where he met all the prophets and were told to pray 5 times a day

• They fled to Medina in 622AD in an event known as Hijrah (the departure)
