Drill Press Test Review
Knowledge Requirements
- Score of 70 or higher needed to use the drill press.
- Operating Guidelines:
- Use only with instructor's permission after instruction.
- Remove dangling jewelry, loose clothing; confine long hair.
- Always wear proper eye protection.
- Hold material securely using a vice, clamps, or your hand.
- The long end of the material should extend to the left of the operator.
- Ensure the key is removed from the chuck.
- Clean up waste with a chip brush.
- Turn off power if material is caught in the drill (do NOT try to stop it by hand).
Operations Steps
- Stand in front of the drill press.
- Secure the material on the table.
- Center the material under the drill bit.
- Hold the material firmly with your LEFT hand.
- Turn the machine ON.
- Avoid drilling into the vice.
- Grasp the feed handle by the top knob with your RIGHT hand.
- Turn the feed handle until the depth stop engages.
- Slowly reverse the feed handle until the drill bit returns to the start position.
- Turn the machine OFF.
- Clean all waste with a chip brush.
