ARTICLE ONE: THE BELIEF IN ONE GOD
"I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth."
Affirmation of monotheism, highlighting there is only one God, consisting of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
WHO IS GOD?
Supreme Being, absolute love, self-sustaining. God is eternal, self-existing, and created all things from nothing.
ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
Infinitely perfect, omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (present everywhere).
FALSE GODS
Definition of false gods: Anything that is put before God. Examples include power, money, possessions, even oneself.
NAME OF GOD
The name of God revealed to Moses evolved into “Yahweh.” The Hebrew letters related to divine meaning; Adonai (God) and Elohim (Divine Creator).
CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH
Discusses the Fall of Man due to Adam & Eve's disobedience leading to Original Sin. Refers to Satan and the fallen angels.
ARTICLE TWO: JESUS CHRIST, HIS ONLY SON
Jesus is the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, is both God and man (Hypostatic Union).
