Describe one individualistic theory of criminality 5 marks
One individualistic theory of criminality is Eysenck 3 personality types. In this theory, Eysenck believes certain personalities types are more likely to commit a crime because they crave excitement and stimulation. Eysenck conducted a questionnaire to 700 soldiers with a neurotic disorder, here he found a number of different personality traits revealed by the soldiers. He came up with 2 dimensions of personality: Introversion/Extroversion and Neuroticism/Stability. Later Eysenck introduced a 3 dimension of personality named Psychoticism, this personality was a cold, uncaring, and aggressive personality and is what Eysenck believed to be the personality linked with criminality. He predicts Extroversion, Neuroticism, and Psychoticism are more likely to offend as it would be more difficult for them to control their impulses
