A-Airworthiness directives

A- Annual Check

  • 12 calendar months

  • For example, if the last check was on dec. 12, 2023…the next check would be dec. 30, 2024

V-VOR

  • Very High Frequency Omni-Directional Range

  • This is a signal/frequency (radio signal) to track location in specific areas 

    • Radio frequencies go to 107.9 and VOR signals begin at 108.0

  • 30 calendar days

I-Inspections 

  • Annual 

  • 100hr

1-100 hour check

A-Altimeter

  • Determines the altitude

  • 24 calendar months (Cm)

T-Transponder

  • Sends information to ATC (air traffic control) 

  • 24 Cm

E-ELT

  • Emergency Location transmitter

  • and/or

    • 12 Cm

    • ½ battery

    • 1 hour of cumulative use

S-Static

  • An instrument that uses pressure to determine altitude and reads speed

  • 24 Cm

  • Certificate from the FAA

R-Registration certificate

R-Radio license 

  • Says the radio works

  • Some do not require this and use a lower level license

  •  The operating manual for each kind of plane (like the manual for my car in the glovebox)

  • Red or white strobing lights on the wings

  • I genuinely don't know what this means

E-ELT 

  • Emergency Location transmitter

    • 12 Cm

    • ½ battery

    • 1 hour of cumulative use

S-Seat belts

  • Headlight used during landing
