Sciatic Nerve
- The largest nerve of the sacral plexus, and also the largest nerve in the body, is the sciatic nerve.
- The sciatic nerve travels in the posterior thigh.
- It splits into two branches:
- Tibial nerve
- Common fibular nerve
Tibial Nerve
- Provides motor innervation to the posterior muscles of the thigh, posterior leg, and foot.
- Gives off a small superficial sensory branch, the sural nerve.
