Nervous System: The Central Nervous System
Consists of the brain and spinal cord.
It acts as the body’s control center.
Co-ordinates voluntary activities like movement.
Co-ordinates involuntary movements like breathing and heartbeat.
How impulses travel:
Nerve impulses are sent to the brain or spinal cord via neurons.
Brain interprets the information received via impulses.
CNS sends impulses to effectors.
Some responses are automatic and rapid. Known as reflexes.
