  • Cognitive Biases Defined:   - Hindsight Bias: The inclination to see events as having been predictable after they have already occurred.   - Confirmation Bias: The tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms one’s preexisting beliefs.   - Overconfidence Bias: The tendency to overestimate the accuracy of one’s beliefs or judgments.

  • 0.5-2: Discuss the significance of simplified laboratory conditions in enhancing our understanding of normal life.

  • Measures of Central Tendency:   - Mode: The value that occurs most frequently in a dataset.   - Mean: The sum of all values divided by the number of values.   - Median: The middle value when data are arranged in order.   - Percentile Rank: A score that indicates the relative standing of a value within a dataset.

  • Distribution Types:   - Skewed Distribution: A distribution where values are concentrated on one side of the average.   - Bimodal Distribution: A distribution with two modes.

  • Measures of Variation:   - Range: The difference between the highest and lowest values.   - Standard Deviation: A measure of how spread out numbers are around the mean.

  • Statistical Analysis Terms:   - Normal Curve: A symmetrical bell-shaped distribution where most values are close to the mean.   - Inferential Statistics: Techniques used to make generalizations from a sample to a population.   - Meta-Analysis: A method that combines results from multiple studies.   - Statistical Significance: A determination of whether results are likely due to chance.   - Effect Size: A measure of the strength of the relationship between two variables or the magnitude of an effect.
