vector addition
Summary
When more than one vector affects an object, you don’t look at them separately you add them to find the net (resultant) vector if vectors are in the same line, you can add or subtract them using positive and negative signs if they are at angles, you use drawings or math methods like tip to tail or the Pythagorean theorem to find the final result
Net vector = total result of all vectors
Collinear vector:
Same line
Add/subtract with + and + signs
Non-collinear vector:
Different directions
Need drawing or trig
Tip to tail method
Draw vectors head to tail
Net vector goes from start to end
Pythagorean method
Only for right angles
Trig method
Works for any angle
