Area = the amount of space INSIDE a shape.

WHAT IS A COMPOSITE FIGURE?
A shape made from multiple smaller shapes.
It might look weird, like an:

If the shape can be broken into rectangles, triangles, etc.:
TO FIND AREA:
STEP 1: Break the figure into smaller shapes.
STEP 2: Find the area of each shape.
STEP 3: Add the areas together.

COMPOSITE = BREAK IT APART
π° PART 7: "PER" / RATES
The word PER is a BIG clue.
Examples:
dollars per hour
dollars per month
miles per hour
dollars per square foot
gallons per minute
"Per" usually tells you a rate.
BASIC RATE IDEA:
Example: Total = Rate x Amount
$1,500 per month for 4 months:
1500(4)= 6000
π PART 9: DISTANCE/RATE/TIME
If your problems involve traveling, remember:
D = RT
d = distance
r = rate/speed
t = time

miles per hour β rate
how far traveled β distance
how long did it take β time
π PART 10: FUNCTIONS
You may see something like:
F(x)
or
D(t)
or
G(t)
IMPORTANT:
The thing inside the parentheses is the INPUT.
Example: (d)4
means: find the distance when t = 4

Example:

Find 3 in the input row.
Then look underneath: 150
So: d(3) = 150
