Direct identification involves the command identify, which tasks one with providing an answer from a number of possibilities. For simple factual output, the command state is used, requiring a specific name, value, or other brief answer without the need for an accompanying explanation or calculation. When visual output is required, to draw means to represent an object or data by means of a labeled, accurate diagram or graph. This specific task must be performed using a pencil, and a ruler (straight edge) should be used for all straight lines. For diagrams, they must be drawn to scale. For graphs, points must be correctly plotted if appropriate and then joined in a straight line or smooth curve.

Further refinement of visual data involves the commands label and annotate. To label is to simply add labels to a diagram, identifying the parts shown. In contrast, to annotate requires adding brief notes to a diagram or graph, providing more context or descriptive detail than a simple label would convey. For less precise visual representations, the command sketch is used. To sketch is to represent by means of a diagram or graph, labeled as appropriate, that gives a general idea of the required shape or relationship and includes only the relevant features rather than a perfectly scaled reproduction.

Quantitative Analysis and Technical Execution

Numerical precision begins with the command measure, which is to obtain a value for a quantity. When an exact value is not required or possible, one is asked to estimate, which means to obtain an approximate value. For more rigorous mathematical tasks, to calculate involves obtaining a numerical answer while showing all the relevant stages in the working process. This ensures that the methodology is as transparent as the final result.

When a specific, singular result is required, the command determine is used, meaning to obtain the only possible answer. In logical or diagrammatic scenarios, to construct is to display information in a diagrammatic or logical form. If a new approach or system is needed, to design involves producing a plan, simulation, or model. For concluding based on available evidence, to deduce means to reach a conclusion from the information given, essentially applying logic to existing data sets.

Descriptive, Analytical, and Comparative Frameworks

Effective communication of complex ideas often requires a detailed account, known as a description. To describe is to give a detailed account of a subject. When the relationship between two or more subjects is the focus, distinguish is used to make clear the differences between those concepts or items. If a higher-level summary is needed, to outline means to give a brief account or summary of the material.

Comparative analysis is split into two distinct commands. To compare is to give an account of the similarities between two or more items or situations, referring to both or all of them throughout the entire response. To compare and contrast is more exhaustive, requiring an account of both the similarities and the differences between two or more items or situations, while maintaining consistent reference to all subjects throughout the explanation.

Deep analysis requires one to analyze, which is to break down information in order to bring out the essential elements or structure of the subject. Once the structure is understood, one may be asked to explain, which means to give a detailed account including the specific reasons or causes behind a phenomenon or occurrence.

Critical Evaluation and Justification

Critical thinking is exercised through commands like comment and discuss. To comment is to give a judgment based on a given statement or a result of a calculation. To discuss is a broader task, requiring the person to offer a considered and balanced review that includes a range of arguments, factors, or hypotheses. In a discussion, opinions or conclusions should be presented clearly and must be supported by appropriate evidence to maintain academic or scientific integrity.

For a structured appraisal, the command evaluate is used. To evaluate is to make an appraisal by weighing up the strengths and its limitations. This balanced view is often followed by the need to justify, which is to give valid reasons or evidence to support an answer or conclusion. These commands ensure that every claim is backed by a logical or empirical foundation.

Predictive Modeling and Proposed Solutions

When looking toward future outcomes or unknown variables, the command predict is utilized. To predict is to give an expected result based on current trends or data. If the answer is not certain but requires a logical proposition, one is asked to suggest. To suggest is to propose a solution, a hypothesis, or another possible answer for consideration.
