REM/ NREM sleep (Rapid eye movement)

Rem sleep: stage of sleep characterized by rapid eye movements, the brain activity is similar as being awake.

NREM sleep: The really sleep time, approximately 75-80% of total adults.

  • Stage N1: The stage of drowsiness, very light sleep, the person can be awakened (but the brain activity decreases and there are slow eye movements) Aún poco despierto

  • Stage N2: It’s still a light sleep but the heart rate and breathing slow down

  • Stage N3-4: This stage is the deepest and most restorative (recovering) stage of sleep. The delta waves are high-amplitude, (there is physical recovery, growth)
