Monozygotes - Samiyah English 4/24

Identical twins, or monozygotic twins, are twins that come from one fertilized egg. That egg then splits into two embryos, meaning they share the same DNA. This is what causes identical twins to look similar. The usually share the same traits, like eye color and hair texture. You can usually tell you’re having twins at 6-8 weeks. Twins have a higher chance of complications, so there is also a higher chance of C-section.
