Human Geography
- Definition: Study of people and places, including:

Types of Maps
- Reference Maps:
- Show landforms and places.
- Physical Map: Displays natural landmarks (e.g. mountains, rivers).
- Political Map: Shows political boundaries (e.g. countries, cities).
- Thematic Maps:
- Display specific themes or data about an area.
- Cartogram: Transforms space to show statistical data (e.g. population).
- Choropleth Map: Uses shading to show statistical data.
- Dot Density Map: Uses dots to indicate occurrence or feature (e.g. population).
- Graduated Symbols Map: Varies symbol size to indicate value magnitude for a location.
Spatial Patterns Represented on Maps
- Types of Distance:
- Absolute Distance: Measured using standard units (e.g. miles, kilometers).
- Relative Distance: Measurement of social, cultural, economic connectivity.
- Types of Direction:
- Absolute Direction: Compass directions (e.g. north, south).

Spatial Concepts

- Relative Location: Location in relation to other features.

- Space and Place:
- Space: Requires context in relation to other phenomena.
- Place: Area defined by human and physical characteristics (e.g. Agra, India).
- Human-Environment Interaction: Modifications to the natural world (e.g. construction).
- Distance Decay: Interaction likelihood decreases with distance.
- Time-Space Compression: Increased connectivity despite geographical distances due to technology.
- Globalization: Increased interconnectedness economically, politically, and culturally.
Concepts of Nature and Society
- Sustainability: Resource management that ensures future generations' needs are met.

- Types of Regions:

- Perceptual Region: Existing in perception (e.g., the South).
- Regional Analysis: Examination of regions across scales for deeper insights (e.g. Muslim population).
