Physical Issues -

• Cotton requires lots of pesticides & freshwater

• Polyester ade from fosil fuels = Non-biodegradeable

• Hazardous chemicals impacts workers & environment

Environmental Issues -

• Agriculture damage, fossil fuel extraction, greenhouse gas emissions

• Textiles has high use of microplastics

• Poor waste management, dicarding of clothing effects ecosystems

• Materialism: inking self-identity to goods like clothes

• Social Modeling - Influecnes of peers increasing fast fashion habits

• Psychological Distance: iDisconnection from environmetnal and physical impacts of fast fashion production

• Create less toxic dyes/additives

• Ensure performcane standrads/qualities are up to consumer needs

• Prioritise environemtnal threats by material

• Assess all options carefully - pros/cons

• Big focus on the lifecycle of clothing

• Main view on overall sustainability

• Reduce psychological distance - local production, more open about true costs of manufacturing and production

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

• Vital for effective solutions

• Each discipline fills a knowledge gap left by another discipline

• Opening to learning from others, acknowledges uncertainy

Not all questions require Interdisciplinary-

• Some problems are best tackled with single disciplibne 

• Depth in a field is sometimes the right approach
