Essay structure:

Introduction:

• Engages with the key working of the question

• Includes the overall themes of the poem

Paragraphs:

• Uses evidence throughout the poem

• Analyses the poets use of language

• Always start with a clear topic sentence

• For every paragraph, include the structure and form in detail

• Include poetic techniques (Simile, metaphor) and aural techniques (alliteration, sibilants)

• Include images and connections

Conclusion:

• DO NOT repeat the intro

• Give an overall inference coming from the essay
