MMI notes
8 - 12 stations
5 - 10 minutes each
reset after each station and smash the next station
reading time
1 - 2 minutes
crucial time: use to review the prompt and structure your answer
if there’s extra time at the end: “please can you repeat the question so I can make sure I’ve covered everything?”
give concise 2-3 minute answers, giving around 3 points and considering different perspectives, e.g. short term and long term
reflection is really important, always say “On reflection”
show empathy and a caring nature
show confidence and use hand gestures
always link back to your motivation for medicine
signpost: outline the stucture/content of what you will discuss before you answer, in case you aren’t able to finish and also to help yourself answer better
don’t give generic answers not specific to you!!
SERR
Situation
Example
Reflect - longest part: what did you learn, challenges and mistakes, how efficient were you
Relate - how did you then go on to recognise or demonstrate the skills you saw
Gibbs Reflective Cycle
for broader concepts, e.g. the general idea of empathy

STARR approach
Situation = specific scenario
Task =
Action = how skills were shown
Result = challenges that arose
Reflection = how challenges have supported development/changed your behaviour
