\ Political Participation - All the activities used by citizens to influence the selection of political leaders or the policies they pursue

\ Civil Liberties - Constitutional freedoms guaranteed to all citizens

\ Voting Rights - no state can deny the right to vote based on race, color, or sex

\ Discrimination - unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group and its members

\ Equal Protection - the equal application of the law regardless of a person's race, religion, political beliefs, or other qualities
