Federal agency set rules for the making (manufacture), sell and use of equipment and chemical ingredients to keep the workplace safe.

These rules also include placing limits on the services you can perform like for example: Here’s how many people can be in the kitchen I want so nobody can get bumped.

⬇ State Agencies

State agencies regulate licensing, enforcement, and your conduct when you’re on the job. In simple terms: who can do the work and how to behave on the job.

An easy example that explains both:

The “Big Boss” (Federal Agencies)

So imagine you have a toy kitchen with a toy blender and pretend soap now imagine the real world with real blenders and real hair dye

Federal agencies are like the big boss who make the rules for the toy company. The Big Boss says:

• “The blender must have a safety lid so fingers don’t get hurt”

• The soap must be made with safe stuff that won’t burn your skin”

• “Here’s how many people can be in the kitchen at once so nobody gets bumped”

So the federal people decide what safe to make and sell and how to keep the workplace from being dangerous. They also say what kind of things you are not allowed to do.

Your State (The Teacher)

The state is like the teacher in your town, They say:

• “You need a special license to use the blender in this kitchen”

• “If you break the rules, you could lose your license”

• “When you’re working, you have to be nice, clean, and careful”

Both federal and state make sure you’re safe and the person getting the service is safe too.
