Understanding Cell Functions

Cells are like tiny factories that do important jobs for living things. They come in different shapes and sizes, but all cells work to keep an organism alive. One main job of cells is to help grow and repair body parts. Cells take in food and oxygen to create energy, which is needed for everything we do, like running, playing, or even reading! Some cells have special jobs, like muscle cells that help us move and nerve cells that send messages in our body. Cells are also responsible for getting rid of waste, keeping our bodies clean and healthy. Without cells, we wouldn't be alive!
