FDIC and NCUA- Federal deposit insurance corporation and The Nation Credit Union Administration protect deposits up to 250K
SEC- The securities and Exchange Commission is a government agency tasked with protecting investors
Fraud- Deceptive and illegal sales practices
Regulations- Government laws that control businesses
FTC- Federal Trading Commission. Handles complaints.
Bureau of Consumer Protection- Makes and enforces regulations for product advertising and labeling
Inflation- The general rise of prices
Hyperinflation- Occurs when the rate of inflation rises quicker than the income
Rate of income- Percentage of money gained or lost relative to what is invested
Compound interest- Calculating interest based on original reposited amount plus interest already earned
Nominal interest rate- The rate quoted in loan and deposit agreements
Real interest rate- The rate an investment is expected to earn, after inflation
