Circulation

Structure of circulatory system

Blood as a whole is a non-newtonian fluid(viscosity not constant) but blood plasma is Newtonian. We can centrifuge blood to separate into components, hematocrit = MCV/RBC conc.

Components

The heart, pulmonary circulation that brings deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs and then oxygenated is sent to left atrium. Deoxygenated blood from the left ventricle to the aorta and then to the artery and then to the venules then to veins and back to the right atrium.

\ Blood pressure

Pressure difference between the left ventricle and right atrium.

BP- Systolic and diastolic pressure in the body.

Systole: As the heart contracts the pressure increases in the ventricle and the blood flows into the aorta and from the right ventricle to the pulmonary artery.

Diastole: ventricles relax and blood flows from the arteries to the ventricle.

==Pulse pressure== is the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressure.

Mid Arteric Pressure = Pd + (Ps-Pd)/3

\ BP is measured on the level of the heart to be on the reference level.
