geography-Glaciation

  • A glacier is a large mass of ice found at high altitude and low altitude

  • An alpine glacier is found at high altitudes on mountains

  • A continental/ice sheet is much larger at very low altitude

    How they are formed:

  1. When more snow falls than melts during cold temperatures

  2. Snow becomes denser and layers of ice build up

  3. Ice that doesn’t melt is called firn

  4. When it becomes thick enough it’s called glacier ice
