Capillary Bleeding

Distinguishing the Bleeding

  1. Road rash/rug burn appearance
  2. Blood mixed with cirrus fluid; bleeding may have stopped rather easily and quickly without any intervention

With this in mind, the main concern is keeping the wound clean

Steps

  1. Wash the wound with soap and water to remove debris.
  2. Apply a bandage and dab the bleeding.
  3. Apply a triple-antibiotic over the wound
  4. Get another 4X4 bandage, cover the wound, and tape the bandage onto the wound.
  5. Encourage the patient to watch for the following signs of infection:

       1. Oozing    2. Pain    3. Swelling    4. Turning red    5. Draining pus

  1. Wait 48-72 hours for the injury to scab.
