Recognising that democracy takes a myriad of forms- often shaped by a country's historical contexts and sovereignty,
Recalling the UN principle of non-interference within the internal affairs of sovereign nations as stated in the UN charter,
Highlighting the UN's responsibility to protect electoral integrity while respecting national sovereignty,
Stressing that democracy is not a one-size-fits-all model that should not be imposed externally.
Recognising the urgent need for an international framework that works towards preventing biased election coverage and media hegemony.
Clause 1: Develop international tolerance that suppresses the imposition of external democratic models on sovereign nations.
Condemns actions that undermine sovereign choices, such as diplomatic pressures, regime change operations and sanctions that aim to enforce western-style democracy upon nations that hold historically and culturally distinct governance structures.
Invites all nations to commit to a principle of political tolerance where diverse democratic models are respected as equal and legitimate expressions of national self- determination.
