Factors that influence the rate of population change

• A growing population needs food supply
• The agricultural revolution increased population growth because it made more food available
• Machinery ad new farming methods = produce more food
• Fertilisers and pesticides = grow more crops = less chance of famine
• Lowers the death rate
• In Sierra Leone people don’t get the necessary nutrition so the poplation is vunerable to disease

• Strains health services, water supplies, sanitation and farming => higher death rate
• Civil war in Sierra Leone => no investment in development
• People died in war => population decline
