Terpenes
Terpenes
- Terpenes are a class of lipids synthesized from a five-carbon compound called isoprene.
- Terpenes are created by modifying and adding to isoprene.
- Examples of terpenes:
- Vitamin A (all-trans-retinoic acid).
- Carotenoid pigments (found in carrots).
- Some molecules found in marijuana (but not THC, which isn't a terpene).
- A molecule in the endomembrane system.
