Fungi
Fungi are single-celled organisms that grow in irregular masses and include molds, mildews, and yeast.
Fungi can produce (make) contagious disease such as ringworm.
DIFFERENT FUNGIS:
1) Mildew
Mildew is a type of fungus that affects plants or grow on inanimate objects but DOES NOT cause human infections in the barbershop
2) Tinea Barbae (also called Barber’s Itch)
This is the most frequent encountered fungal infection resulting from hair services.
Tinea Barbae is a superficial fungal infection that commonly affects the skin; it is primarily a limited to the beared areas of the face and neck or around the scalp
A person with Tinea Barbae may have deeply inflamed patches of skin on the face or the nape of the necks.
3) Tinea Capitis
Tinea Barbae is similar to Tinea Capitis.
Tinea Capitis is a fungal infection in the scalp characterized by red papules, or spots, at opening of the hair follicles
4) Ringworm
Ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin that appears in circular lesions, is another fungus that may contraindicate a beauty service.
