Direct-Method
Direct method was developed to improve on grammar translation .
In this approach, only the new language (L2) is used in the classroom.
Teachers use objects, pictures, and examples to help students understand the meaning of words without translating.
Grammar rules are directly thought; instead, students learn them naturally by hearing and using the language.
The method focuses on speaking, using conversations and dialogues.
This approach was influenced by native speakers who traveled to teach, making translation less practical.
Though for many years, teachers avoided using students’ native language, recently, it’s become more accepted as a helpful tool in learning new language.
